Dr. Derrick E Haynes bio

Dr. Derrick E. Haynes, is an experienced executive coach and consultant who has dedicated his life to helping maximize the potential of others. His personal mission is to help individuals and organizations build the capacity to achieve their goals. Haynes, is a catalyst for personal change as he pushes his clients to achieve their personal best. 


Following a successful 20+ year career in higher education rising from counselor to dean; Haynes, decided to leave and start a consulting firm. He founded Holden Willow Consulting Group to help organizations understand the art of achieving success. From an educator’s perspective, he is able to provide meaningful guidance that produce results. He leverages his experiences in higher education as an administrator and professor, doctoral education in Organizational Performance Learning and Change and experience as a veteran to inform his work. 


Beyond a busy work life, Derrick has received many awards and honors to include: The Alpha Kappa Alpha M.O.D.E.L. Man Community Leadership Award, Dr. Martin Luther King Fellowship, & Denver Public Schools Foundation Outstanding Graduate Achievement Recognition, and United States Army Achievement medal, to name a few.  In addition to awards, his professional, and social, affiliations include member of Denver African American Philanthropists, former member of the NASPA Region IV African American Knowledge Community board, former Co-Chair of the Colorado Black Chamber of Commerce Chamber Connect Leadership Program, former Board Member for Colorado High School Charter, and Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated.


Derrick was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services from Metropolitan State University of Denver, a Master of Education degree in Organizational Performance and Change, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Organizational Performance and Change from Colorado State University.  His dissertation developed and validated a questionnaire, which measures employees’ perceptions of the work environment.
